Mata Mahagauri represents Mata Parvati in her phase of recovery. She is the Goddess of Beauty and women. She has the powers to fulfill all the desires of her devotees. She is the fifth form of mata durga. Her name is derived from skanda, which is an alternate name for Kartikeya, and mata meaning mother. She is four-armed,three eyed , and rides on a lion. Her one hand is fear dispelling while the other is used to hold the infant form of her son Skanda on her lap. Her remaining two hands are typically shown holding lotus flowers.
